Nicholas J. (Nick) Sheumack
Managing Principal

Mr. Sheumack is one of the most experienced financial services industry investment bankers and financiers on Wall Street today. Over the course of a 25-year career in global finance, Mr. Sheumack has managed, supervised, led, and/or participated in more than:

650+ Corporate Financing Transactions
(inclusive of Debt, Hybrid and Equity Public Offerings and Private Placements)

500+ Corporate Merger, Acquisition and or Divestiture Transactions

350+ Corporate Valuations, Appraisals and Fairness Opinions

200+ Cross-border and International Transactions

Within this portfolio of applied experience, Mr. Sheumack has arranged and advised on some of the most notable North American and cross-border financial services industry business combinations and financing transactions.

As captain of an NCAA Division I collegiate tennis team, Mr. Sheumack led his team to its first conference championship in two decades then briefly toured professionally, earning a world doubles ranking and winning the USPTA Eastern Hardcourt Singles and Doubles Championships. Mr. Sheumack began his career on Wall Street in the late 1990s with a focus on bank, thrift and financial services industry analysis including providing traditional banks and thrifts with financing solutions and advice on mergers and acquisitions.

Within his first decade on Wall Street, Mr. Sheumack was asked to lead an expansion initiative to engineer and launch systematic coverage of the non-bank sectors of the financial services industry including financial technology. It was during this period when he emerged and established himself as a trusted go-to banker to other leading investment banks as they considered their own long-term strategy, value maximization, consolidation opportunities, capital raising and generational transition solutions. During a period of significant structural change on Wall Street, he worked closely with the leadership of prominent independent investment banks including Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Stifel Financial, JMP Group, Robert W. Baird, FBR & Co., Petrie Parkman & Co., Howard Weil Incorporated, Simmons & Company International, Tudor Pickering Holt & Co., ISI Group, Greenhill, and Evercore among many others. Mr. Sheumack earned and maintains a coveted reputation as banker’s banker, having led many IPOs and financing transactions for other investment banks and having engineered and arranged many of the notable mergers within the sector.

With a natural curiosity about financial market structure and market evolution, Mr. Sheumack was one of the first financial institutions (or FIG) investment bankers to branch out beyond traditional banks and insurance companies to organize and build systematic coverage of the diversified (non-bank) sectors of the financial services industry and to engineer cross-sector as well as cross-border mergers.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, financial markets globally experienced seismic structural change as the inevitability of integrated digital global markets superseding hundreds of regionally-based narrow analog markets gained widespread acceptance. During this period of accelerated structural change, Mr. Sheumack emerged as a leading banker to companies operating the backbone of global markets — securities and derivatives brokers and dealers, exchanges, clearing houses, prime brokers, securities finance providers and fund administrators — along with private equity, venture capital and other institutional investors active in these dynamic areas.

Mr. Sheumack’s breadth of industry, transactional and product experience spanning all sectors of the financial services industry and both public and private capital markets is rare on Wall Street today as larger banks tend to staff narrow sector-based or product-based banking coverage. Along with his position as banker's banker, he is a leading banker and trusted strategic advisor to asset and wealth management companies, specialty finance and specialty insurance companies, along with private equity and venture capital industry investors who are active in the financial services industry.
